Sub:-  TAXES - A.P. Tax on Professions, Trades, Callings and Employment Act, 1987 - Recovery of Profession Tax at the enhanced rate - Further instructions - Communicated.

        Instructions were issued through the Notification 1st cited advising all the Salary Drawing Officers to remit Profession Tax for November 1996 at the pre-enhanced rates only until further orders.

        Further instructions were issued through Circular 2nd cited to stop the recovery of Profession Tax at the enhanced rates for the months of December 1996 and January 1997 temporarily and to recover at the pre-enhanced rates and remit the same to the Commercial Tax Department.

        In view of the Government's clarification through the reference 3rd cited,  the Vice-Chairman & Managing Director has ordered as under :  

        i) to recover and remit the Profession Tax at the enhanced rates from February 1997 onwards ;

       ii) to recover and remit the difference of enhanced and pre - enhanced rates of Profession Tax for the months of December 1996 and January 1997 in two equal  installments in February 1997 and March 1997 Salary bills respectively.

      iii) to remit the difference of enhanced and pre - enhanced rates for the month of November 1996 which was already recovered, to the Commercial Tax Department.

        All the Salary Drawing Officers are advised to take immediate action accordingly.
