Sub :-  TAXES - A.P. Tax on Professions, Trades, Callings and Employment Act 1987 - Recovery of Profession Tax at the enhanced rates - Kept in abeyance - Instructions - Issued.

        Instructions were issued for recovery of Profession Tax at  the enhanced rates with effect from August 1996 from the salaries of the Corporation Employees through the Circulars 1st and 2nd cited.

        In the Strike Notice served by the APSRTC National Mazdoor Union Dt. 06.03.1997 it has been requested among other things, to cancel the increase in the rates of Profession Tax for the employees of Corporation.

        The Government have postponed the recovery of Profession Tax at the enhanced rates for the NGOs of State Government.

        It is hereby ordered to keep the recovery of Profession Tax at the enhanced rates from Class-II, Class-III & Class-IV employees of the Corporation in abeyance from MARCH 1997 onwards on par with the NGOs of the State Government until further orders and pending approval of the Government.

        This will not be applicable to the Officers of the Corporation.

        In respect of Class-II, Class-III & Class-IV employees however the recovery of Profession Tax shall be made at the pre - enhanced rates from March 1997 onwards.

        In case recovery is already effected from the salary of March 1997 from the employees, the difference of Profession Tax between the enhanced rates and pre - enhanced rates recovered from Class-II, Class-III & Class-IV employees shall not be remitted to the Commercial Tax Department and the same shall be refunded to the concerned employees at Unit level through Pay Order.

        All the Salary Drawing Officers are advised to act accordingly.
