Sub:-    TRAINING  -  Training of Drivers on Safety Driving - Selection of Safety Instructors - Continuation of Scheme for a further period of one year - Guidelines - Instructions - Issued - Reg.

        Instructions were issued to have Safety Instructor for each Depot to inculcate Safe Driving among all Drivers in the Depot, vide Circular 1st cited.

        Detailed guidelines were issued in regard to utilization, criteria of selection, Training, duties and responsibilities, tenure and Pay & Allowances of the Safety Instructors.

        It was also clearly mentioned that the scheme of appointment of safety Instructor in the Depots will be for a period of one year ie., from 01.07.1996 to 30.06.1997 and in any case no Driver shall work as Safety instructor for more than one year.

        After completion of the period of one year ie., from 01.07.1996 to 30.06.1997, the scheme of appointment of Safety Instructor has been reviewed and it is decided to continue the scheme for further period of one year, in view of its positive results in reducing the accident  rate.

        The Depot Managers are already having Panels of Drivers eligible to work as Safety Instructors, prepared by a Committee last year and Selection of Candidates from the same Panel stands good.  Safety Instructors who have done excellent job in inculcating Safety consciousness and substantial reduction in accident rate in the Depots may be continued even beyond one year.  Such continuations may be  decided only by the Committee consisting of Regional Manager, Dy. Chief Mechanical Engineer and Dy. Chief Traffic Manager of the Regions.

        All the other terms and conditions as stipulated vide Circulars cited are to be followed without any deviation.

        These instructions are issued with the concurrence of Chief Accounts Officer.
