***

The APSRTC Retired Employees Medical Facilities Scheme-2003 was introduced w.e.f. 1st January 2006 vide Circular 1st cited. The Officers/Employees retiring from service on superannuation from 1.1.2006 and willing to join the Scheme have to submit their option to the Unit Officer concerned within 2 months before the date of superannuation duly remitting the membership contribution as prescribed by way of Cash/DD or authorizing the Corporation to recover the membership contribution from his terminal benefits/settlements amounts. The employees who have retired from service on superannuation from 08.10.2003 till the date of implementation of the Scheme are also eligible to exercise their option to join the Scheme within 2 months from the date of issue of Circular under reference 1st cited.

Some of the Officers and Employees who could not opt to join the Scheme within 2 months as stipulated above are submitting applications requesting to permit them to join the Scheme duly condoning the delay in submitting the option to join the Scheme to avail the medical facilities.

The matter has been examined.

The VC & MD has accorded approval, as a last opportunity, to permit those Officers/Employees who retired on superannuation after 8.10.2003 but could not join the scheme so far, to join the Scheme before 31.12.2009 by paying prescribed amount, i.e, Rs.20,000/- for Officers, Rs.15,000/- for Supervisors and Rs.10,000/- for employees in Class-III  & IV  service to avail medical facilities under the Scheme. There is no change in the other terms and conditions of the Scheme and the procedure to enroll the retired Officers/Employees, issued on the subject vide references cited.

All the Unit Officers are, therefore, advised to take action accordingly.
