Sub:     MEDICAL ATTENDANCE – Providing Medical Facilities to the Retired Officers/Employees and their spouses of APSRTC - Revising the limit on Medical expenditure to Rs. 4 lakhs between the retired employee and spouse from the existing Rs. 2 lakhs each  -  Reg.

            The APSRTC Retired Employees Medical Facilities Scheme 2003 was introduced vide Circular No.PD-58/2005 dated 08.12.2005.  Under the scheme and as per the Circulars 1 to 3 cited, the Retired Employee along with spouse is eligible for medical treatment in APSRTC dispensaries and Hospital at Tarnaka on par with in service employees and for providing specialist treatment at other Hospitals in the field of Heart, Kidney, Brain surgery, Cancer etc., subject to a maximum of Rs.1.00 lakh each or 2.00 lakhs between both of them during their life time.  In the event of death of retired Officer/Employee, the spouse will continue to avail the benefit during his/her life time. 

 

            Instructions were issued vide Circular 5th cited enhancing the above ceiling limit to Rs.2.00 lakhs each to the retired Officer/Employee and his/her spouse, pending ratification by the Board.  The Board vide Resolution No.93/2009, dated 14.09.2009 ratified the enhancement of ceiling limits.

 

            The President, APSRTC Retired Officers’ Welfare Association vide representation 6th cited, has requested to extend the eligibility of Rs.4.00 lakhs either individually or jointly as was the case when the limit of medical expenses was Rs.2.00 lakhs between the retired employee and spouse, considering the prevailing high cost of treatment at Corporate Hospitals.

                                                                                                                                   

            Considering the above representation and the hardship faced by the Retired Officers/Employees in meeting the high cost of medical expenditure, the Chairman with the concurrence of FA/CAO has accorded approval -

 

(a)        Revising the limit on Medical expenditure to Rs. 4 lakhs between the Retired

            Employee and spouse “as against the existing “Rs. 2 lakhs each for  Retired

            employee and spouse”.

 

(b)               Vesting  powers with the Managing Director to sanction Medical expenditure,

            with the concurrence of    Chief Accounts Officer, under the Retired Employees 

            Medical Facilities Scheme -2003.

           

            The APSRTC Retired Employees Medical Facilities Scheme 2003 is modified to the extent above.

 

            The other conditions stipulated in the circulars under reference cited remain unchanged.

 

            These instructions will come into force with immediate effect.
